🏭Factory code is 2 or 3 characters. Starts with a 1? Almost always 3: 1RYH is 1RY + H.
👀Only 3 digits at the end? That’s a pre-2000 tyre: type them, and tick the box below only if a small diamond follows the date. No date at all? It’s usually moulded on one side of the tyre only. Check the other sidewall.

⚠️ Confused by similar-looking letters? (I, O, Q, S)
I → 1
Letter I is excluded from DOT codes. If you see I, it's likely the number 1.
O → 0
Letter O is excluded. Read it as zero.
Q → 0
Letter Q is excluded. Read it as zero.
S → 5
Letter S is valid in plant codes but easily confused with 5. Check carefully.

1 · Find the code

Moulded into the sidewall near the rim, always after the letters DOT. The full version ending in the date is usually on one side of the tyre only.

2 · Type or paste it

Three boxes, same order as the sidewall. Got the whole code? Paste it into any box and it splits itself.

3 · Press DECODE

Age, factory and country come straight from the code. It all happens in your browser. Nothing you type is sent anywhere.

4 · Read the result

Week and year of manufacture, who really built the tyre, and for a growing list of factories, the middle code even reveals the exact size.
